Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

YesHype Countdown Timer (“YesHype”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) is an application for Shopify merchants that displays countdown timers on storefront product pages. This policy explains what data the app accesses, stores, and shares, and how we handle it.

By installing YesHype on your Shopify store, you agree to this policy.

The short version

  • We do not collect, store, or process any personal data about your shoppers or customers.
  • The only credential we store is the access token Shopify issues when you install the app, so the app can talk to your store on your behalf.
  • Your timer settings are stored in your own store’s metafields.
  • When you uninstall, the access token we hold is deleted.

What data we access and store

1. Your store’s app access token and session data

When you install YesHype, Shopify issues an offline access token that lets the app make authorized API calls to your store. We store this token together with your store’s .myshopify.com domain in our database so the app can function between visits. This is the only data we retain in our own database.

  • Where it’s stored: a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon in the United States (US East region).

2. Your timer configuration

The timers you create — end dates and times, styles, colours, headings, end messages, and which products or collections each timer targets — are stored in your store’s own Shopify metafields. This data lives within your Shopify store, not in a separate database of ours. It is store configuration and contains no personal information.

3. Store catalog and theme data (read-only, not retained)

To let you target timers and to show the timer correctly, the app reads limited store data through the Shopify Admin API, under the permissions you approve at install:

  • Products and collections (read_products): to let you choose which products or collections a timer applies to, and to build “View in store” preview links.
  • Themes (read_themes): to detect whether the timer block has been added to your published theme, so the app can guide you through setup.

We read this data at the moment it’s needed and do not retain it beyond the timer settings you explicitly save (for example, the IDs and names of products you target).

What we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect, store, or have access to your customers’/shoppers’ personal information — no names, emails, addresses, orders, payment details, or browsing data.
  • The countdown runs in the shopper’s browser using the timer’s end date; it does not identify, track, or profile shoppers.

Hosting and subprocessors

The app is operated using the following service providers (“subprocessors”), all of which process data on our behalf:

  • Shopify — the platform the app runs on and the source of all store data.
  • Fly.io — application hosting, in the United States.
  • Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting, in the United States (US East region).

GDPR and data-subject requests

Because YesHype stores no shopper or customer personal data, there is no customer personal information for us to export or erase. We nonetheless implement and have tested Shopify’s mandatory compliance webhooks:

  • customers/data_request — we hold no customer data to provide.
  • customers/redact — we hold no customer data to delete.
  • shop/redact — we delete the store’s session and access-token data from our database.

If you have questions about your rights under the GDPR, the CCPA, or similar laws, contact us at the address below.

Data retention and deletion

  • We retain your store’s access token only for as long as the app is installed.
  • When you uninstall the app, Shopify sends an app-uninstalled notification and, subsequently, a shop-redaction request. In response, we delete the access token and session data we hold for your store from our database.
  • Your timer settings are stored in your store’s own Shopify metafields and are removed according to Shopify’s data-handling when you uninstall the app or close your store.

Security

Access tokens are stored in a hosted database and transmitted only over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections between Shopify, the app, and our database. We limit the app’s permissions to the minimum required (read_products, read_themes).
